Description
Monica Edwards was a vicar’s daughter, who barely went to school, grew up in Rye Harbour (the fictional Westling) and worked briefly with horses before her marriage to Bill Edwards.

Wish for a Pony was the author’s first book to be set on Romney Marsh. The beautiful picture on the cover tells it all. Tamzin’s white arab horse was only on a calendar and Rissa’s mount was a bicycle. There were only the Dunsford Dairy ponies to be ridden, or old Twinkle, but through an accident Tamzin and Rissa meet the owner of Hillocks Stables, who in exchange for their help in grooming etc lets them learn to jump, ride in a gymkhana and swim the horses in the sea. And at the end of the summer, Tamzin’s wish comes true.

There are memories from five people of John Allsup, plus two photographs
