Description
The story chiefly concerns the prefects of St. Vivians, a girls’ boarding school on the Cumberland coast, but it also introduces some entertaining members of the Upper Fourth. It revolves round the enigmatic Lesley Trevor, youngest of the new prefects, whose promotion is as much a surprise to herself as it is to the other seniors: her many adventures, her friendship with the new Sixth Former, Janice Dent, and with the Head Girl and Games’ Captain, Chris Rivers and Pat Meredith; and her tussles with Kathleen Summers and Joan Cleeves. How Lesley rises superior to all difficulties (including herself at times) makes an enthralling tale.
Patricia Caldwell wrote the first two books of the Vivians series in the 1950s, and then three more in the 1990s and 2000s, which were privately published.
Patricia Caldwell is now Patricia Turner and it is under this name that she regularly writes for fanzines such as Folly. She has written a brand new introduction to Prefects at Vivians for this GGBP edition.
